The
TRADEWIND 35 is a blue water cruser with a 20 year pedigree. She is a heavy
displacement, long keel, GRP, cruising yacht with exceptional sea keeping and
handling characteristics. With a deep seagoing cockpit, wide side decks and
huge flush foredeck she is designed for safe long distance cruising. Her heavy
displacement means she is comfortable at sea as her motion is slow and purposeful
and slamming into
head seas is reduced. It also means she has the volume to carry a good quantity
of gear and stores.
She sleeps four but is really comfortable with a crew of two who would sleep
in the saloon at sea and the fore cabin in port. The cutter rig makes sail handling
easier as the headsails are smaller and sheet loads lighter and the directional
stability of the long keel makes her ideal for wind vane steering.
The Navigation Area incorporates a chart table ideally positioned for the Navigator's
comfort.
With wheel steering and a Deutz 30 hp diesel engine driving a three bladed
propeller, the vessel is easily manoeuvred in harbour and adequately powered
to meet the varied needs of an ocean cruising yacht. With more than 70 yachts
completed, the design is well proven.
